Dr. Chris Ramage, D.O.

Founder | Medical Weight Loss, Hormone Optimization & Metabolic Health Physician

Dr. Chris Ramage, D.O., is the founder of Azona Health, a physician-led medical practice specializing in personalized weight loss, hormone optimization, and long-term metabolic health. With more than a decade of clinical experience across emergency medicine, family medicine, and metabolic health, Dr. Ramage is known for delivering evidence-based, results-driven care that addresses the root causes of weight gain, hormonal imbalance, and chronic metabolic dysfunction.

Born and raised in Arizona, Dr. Ramage’s path into medicine began early. He entered college at just 14 years old through dual enrollment, graduated high school before turning 16, and completed his Bachelor of Science in Life Sciences at Arizona State University by age 18. Before entering medical school, he spent two years teaching in a laboratory technician program focused on cellular biology and microbiology, building a strong scientific foundation that continues to shape his clinical approach today.

He earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from Midwestern University’s Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2010. He completed his internship in Internal Medicine at Maricopa Medical Center (now Valleywise Health) before finishing his residency in Family Medicine at Kingman Regional Medical Center in 2014, where he developed and led an obesity treatment program utilizing medication-based weight loss and structured nutritional strategies. He is Board Certified in Osteopathic Family Medicine and Osteopathic Manipulative Treatment.

Since 2013, Dr. Ramage has focused extensively on medical weight loss, metabolic health, and hormone optimization. From 2016 to 2018, he trained and practiced in Spokane, Washington, where he specialized in intensive behavioral modification, medication-assisted weight loss, and meal replacement protocols. During this time, he authored clinical protocols for testosterone replacement therapy and contributed to advancements in female hormone replacement strategies. His experience also includes treating musculoskeletal conditions associated with weight loss and physical activity, reinforcing a comprehensive, functional medicine-informed approach.

Dr. Ramage brings a uniquely broad clinical perspective through his work as an Emergency Medicine Attending Physician across healthcare systems in Arizona, Washington, Iowa, and Texas. He currently practices within the Dignity Health system and Wickenburg Community Hospital, where he manages acute and complex medical conditions. This experience allows him to approach outpatient metabolic care with a deep understanding of the long-term consequences of untreated obesity, hormonal imbalance, and chronic disease.

In addition to his civilian medical career, Dr. Ramage has served in the Arizona Air National Guard since 2006 and currently holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. As Chief of Aerospace Medicine at the Tucson Air National Guard Base, he oversees flight medicine operations for more than 1,500 personnel, including aircrew, and provides training to medical providers and military members on health optimization, performance, and safety.

A Senior Flight Surgeon with over 400 flight hours in KC-135 and F-16 aircraft, Dr. Ramage has deployed multiple times to the Pacific region and the Middle East. During his service, he flew 25 combat missions and was awarded the Air Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal, among numerous other military honors. He continues to consult and treat military personnel in obesity medicine and hormone optimization, applying performance-based medical strategies in high-demand environments.

Dr. Ramage is an active member of the Obesity Medicine Association and the American College of Osteopathic Family Physicians, aligning his work with the latest research and standards in treating obesity as a chronic, medically complex disease.

Through Azona Health, Dr. Ramage leads a team committed to delivering high-touch, physician-guided care through modern telehealth. His programs are designed to be highly individualized and may include comprehensive metabolic evaluations, hormone assessment, nutrition and lifestyle guidance, and ongoing medical supervision.

His philosophy is clear: effective weight loss is not about restriction or temporary solutions, but about restoring metabolic function, optimizing hormones, and creating sustainable lifestyle change. By combining medical expertise with personalized care, Dr. Ramage helps patients improve energy, regain control of their health, and achieve long-term results that last.
